About

myBurlington™ (www.myBurlington.org) is a community-centered initiative focused on bringing the power and reach of the internet and social networking to the citizens of the area in a way that directly improves the quality of life.  Our goal is to create a neutral landing spot for citizens and our guests to refer to when learning about the Greater Burlington (Iowa) area and while overcoming the day-to-day challenges the cities of Burlington and West Burlington (Iowa) face.

myBurlington™ is a play on words representing a Burlington/West Burlington that people take ownership of.  It is Jake’s Burlington, Katie’s Burlington, Tyrone’s Burlington, and Sofía’s Burlington.  Each person claims Burlington or West Burlington as their own.  This is where they live, grow up, and raise families of their own.  This is where they get an education, shop, and go to work.

This initiative is about bringing people together with the belief that we all are in “this” together.

Some of our more prominent services include:

  • This website: provides a banner and landing point as well as some general information and helpful links.
  • Neighborhood Chatter: a private discussion group facilitated through the Facebook social media platform focused on day-to-day information sharing and collaboration.
  • Jobs: a private discussion group, also on Facebook, which aggressively organizes job listings in the area in order to encourage prosperity and opportunity.
  • Education: a private discussion group, also on Facebook, which has guided conversation about education topics of all levels regarding  Burlington Community School District, the West Burlington Independent School District, Great River Christian School, and Southeastern Community College as well as other professional development and higher learning topics.

There are also other branches of services such as a public billboard for announcements that can be shared, a public pets and animals discussion group, a group focused on positivity, charity, and kindness in the community, and more!
